Freedom 250 Mobile Museum Coming to Raleigh This Weekend!
Interactive exhibit to park on the Governor’s Lot

March 14–15

10:00 AM – 6:00 PM

In partnership with the Commissioner of Labor Luke Farley, the General Assembly’s Semiquincentennial Committee is proud to announce that the Freedom 250 track tour will make a stop in Raleigh, North Carolina!

The traveling exhibit will be located on E. Jones Street between N. Blount St. and N. Person St. at the Governor’s Lot, and will be open to the public Saturday and Sunday, March 14–15, from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

The Freedom 250 tour features a state-of-the-art mobile museum housed in a tractor trailer that allows visitors to explore the story of America’s founding and the enduring ideals of liberty and self-government. The exhibit is part of the nationwide commemoration of the Semiquincentennial — America’s 250th anniversary in 2026.

“We are proud to welcome the Freedom 250 tour to North Carolina and to share this experience with families, students, and visitors from across our state,” said N.C. Labor Commissioner Luke Farley. “I’m grateful to partner with members of the General Assembly to celebrate 250 years of American freedom and the enduring principles that make our nation great. Events like this give the next generation an opportunity to learn about our history and reflect on the blessings of liberty we enjoy today.”

Senator Ted Alexander, co-chair of the General Assembly’s America’s Semiquincentennial Committee, said:
“I am delighted that the General Assembly’s Committee, along with our Commissioner of Labor Luke Farley, have worked together to bring the Freedom 250 museum to Raleigh as a part of our country’s Semiquincentennial birthday celebration. This traveling exhibition highlights the rich and exciting heritage of the American Spirit of 1776 and beyond. My hope is that many fellow North Carolinians will come and be inspired as to the greatness of the American story as told through its fascinating displays!”

The Freedom 250 exhibit is free and open to the public. Visitors of all ages are encouraged to attend and experience this interactive celebration of American history.

The stop in Raleigh is part of a national effort to bring the story of the American founding directly to communities across the country ahead of the United States’ 250th anniversary in 2026.

My Liberty Mountain: The Revolutionary Drama Experience

Tanzy B Wallace, America’s Semiquincentennial Public Member

September 19, 2025 was the opening night of Liberty Mountain, The Revolutionary Drama at the Joy Theater Kings Mountain NC.

I had the distinguished honor along with my friends to experience the excitement, enthusiasm and hospitality from the beginning to the end. The environment, the delicious food, the costumes and music set the stage and tone to place your imagination back in the time of the Revolutionary.

As I sat on the balcony, the scenes, action and storyline kept you on edge. The actors and actresses were wonderful! The characters made you feel anger to sadness, excitement, honor and pride. That lets you know they played their roles well! It was encouraging to see all people represented, who played a role in this historical moment. It was also amazing to see all the North Carolina talent that was represented.

I came away with more understanding and knowledge of what actually happened, right here in my own backyard of Cleveland Co. NC…along with an excellent souvenir book to share and reflect upon!

My hats off to all the sponsors, organizers, actors, technical team and volunteers. The play is still going on. If you are in the Kings Mountain area, it is worth coming to see this drama. To find out more information on performance times go to:
