Special Olympics provides year-round sports training and competition for more than 5.7 million children and adults worldwide with intellectual disabilities. Nearly 45,000 athletes participate in the Special Olympics in North Carolina, making it one of the largest Special Olympics programs in the world! Annually, North Carolina officers raise millions of dollars to support this initiative through corporate sponsorships, T-shirt and hat donations, and unique fundraising events such as rooftop building sits, Over the Edge, golf tournaments, and Polar Plunges held throughout the year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>What does the NC General Assembly Police Department do for the Special Olympics?<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In previous years, the NC General Assembly Police has raised funds through sponsorships and T-shirt and hat donations. The department coordinators send out newsletters about upcoming fundraising events and volunteer opportunities.
