For instance, check out the home page of <a href=\"https:\/\/ncpedia.org\/\">NCPedia<\/a>, a project of the State Library of North Carolina.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The General Assembly has some interesting resources as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.nclegislativeblackcaucus.com\/\">North Carolina Legislative Black Caucus<\/a> &#8211; Since its founding in 1983, this group has worked to advocate for the interests and concerns of minority communities across North Carolina.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/sites.ncleg.gov\/library\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/5\/2023\/03\/African-Americans.pdf\">African-Americans in the General Assembly<\/a> &#8211; A list of Black state legislators from 1969 to present. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/oralhistoriesproject.law.unc.edu\/oral-histories\/hon-daniel-t-blue-jr\/\">Dan Blue interview<\/a> &#8211; A discussion with Senator Dan Blue, who in 1991 became North Carolina&#8217;s first Black Speaker of the House. This interview was part of a UNC Law oral history project. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><a href=\"https:\/\/www.wunc.org\/show\/due-south\/2024-09-17\/purple-ballot-a-conversation-with-rep-mickey-michaux\">Mickey Michaux interview<\/a> &#8211; A discussion with Henry &#8220;Mickey&#8221; Michaux, who left the General Assembly in 2020 as its longest-serving member. <\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>February is, of course, Black History Month.
