Its funding comes from the interest earned on the accounts where retainer fees, settlement fees, and other advance payments are held. Committee members will investigate NC IOLTA\u2019s funding, the composition of its board, and the pattern of awarding grants to left-leaning organizations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In June, the General Assembly passed <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncleg.gov\/Sessions\/2025\/Bills\/Senate\/PDF\/S429v6.pdf\">SB429<\/a> freezing the group\u2019s ability to make grants while members learn more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Co-Chair Harry Warren (R-Rowan) said,<strong> \u201cIOLTA was created in good faith to help those who need help with the justice system, but over the years, it seems to have become a boondoggle for woke causes that try to thwart the General Assembly\u2019s work.
